_champions-league-final-was-disrupted-by-three-invaders-as-spectators-got-on-the-wembley-pitch.webp "Wembley suffered a fresh security fiasco last night after what appeared to be an orchestrated band of pitch invaders delayed the opening moments of the Champions League final. <br/><br/>On the week the Football Association revealed it had pumped £5million into improving Wembley’s security provisions, the UEFA showcase between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund was stopped soon after kick-off after at least three fans tried to enter the pitch, two of them successfully.<br/><br/>Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marcel Sabitzer tackled one to the ground. <br/><br/>Following the disgraceful scenes that marred the Euro 2020 final here at the national stadium in the summer of 2021, the FA were determined to host a trouble-free night.<br/><br/>But the governing body's first UEFA showcase final since that fateful night here three years ago was again impacted by an embarrassing security breach.<br/><br/>A record number of stewards for an event at Wembley were deployed for the game - in the region of 2,600.<br/><br/>But even that enough wasn’t to prevent intruders from forcing their way onto the pitch, much to the annoyance of both sets of players and benches.<br/><br/>On the plus side, the supporters’ route into Wembley is understood to have run smoothly, in complete contrast to the previous two finals in Paris and Istanbul which were both impacted by logistical issues outside the stadiums leading to fan chaos outside the respective grounds.<br/><br/>Nevertheless, the chaotic scenes at the start of the game will have come as a blow to Wembley’s security staff.<br/><br/>Cameras switched attention to the crowd rather than the pitch invasion, with viewers initially kept unaware of the disturbance.<br/><br/>More than 600 stewards in yellow bibs lined the touchline as the players came off for half-time.<br/><br/>An investigation was launched into how security at such a high-level match could be breached and whether there was any political element behind the incidents.<br/><br/>The Wembley Stadium announcer warned fans in English, German, and Spanish that entering the pitch was 'an arrestable offense'.<br/><br/>Social media was awash with criticism towards the FA after the early delay as users playfully referenced the £ 5 million expenditure on bolstering Wembley security since Euro 2020. <br/><br/>‘That’s £5million well spent,’ read one post on X, the social media platform formally known as Twitter.<br/><br/>Another read: ‘Well…that’s £5million well spent. What a waste of money.’<br/><br/>Speaking this week, Chris Bryant, the FA’s director of tournaments and events, said: ‘It’s vital we deliver and do everything we can control in the best possible way.<br/><br/>‘We want this event to be as successful as possible for every reason, not least for the fans and the event in itself, but we know a lot of people will think about the Euros final as well.<br/><br/>'A massive amount of work has gone into this, an event of national significance and a chance to show London is fantastic at delivering big events, that Wembley is a home for big football matches and we do events like this very well.’")

The Mavs came into this game up 2-0 in the series and are looking to sweep the Timberwolves after taking a 3-0 lead in the series 116-107. <br/><br/>Dallas started the game off knocking down three three-pointers. They took the lead early and held that lead the entire first half. <br/><br/>Dereck Lively Jr. took a big hit from Karl Anthony-Towns knee to the back of the head. He was down on the court for a good three to four minutes before getting to his feet and heading back to the locker room. He looked very woozy when getting up and did not return for the remainder of the game. He was ruled out for a neck sprain. Following the win Luka doncic was asked about the injury and how the team bounces back from one and he said, “Injuries suck but they are a part of sports. Unfortunately it’s the next man up.” <br/><br/>Dallas took a 60-52 lead into the half. Their largest lead in the first half was 12 points. <br/><br/>They shot 47 percent from beyond the arc, knocking down 10 three’s in the first half. 53 percent from the floor and 18-of-19 from the free throw line. The Mavs were led by Luka Doncic who had 15 points at the half, Kyrie Irving was shortly behind with 14 points. <br/><br/>The loss of Lively really started to show in the third quarter. The Timberwolves started to win the rebound battle and Minnesota took their second lead of the game going ahead by two. <br/><br/>The loss of Lively was noticeable down low but Doncic and Irving were not going to let that stop them. Everyone talks about “fourth quarter kyrie” and it definitely showed tonight. <br/><br/>“How many points did he have in the fourth quarter?” Doncic asked the media after the game. “It felt like 20. He was born for these situations.” <br/><br/>Kyrie Irving finished the night with 33 points, three rebounds, four assists. <br/><br/>Luka Doncic finished the night with 33 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. <br/><br/>Both players combined for 66 points for Dallas. These two players are consistently scoring 50+ points per game in this series. This is the third time in the playoffs that both Doncic and Irving have scored 30+ points each. <br/><br/>“He’s patient. He’s calm. He loves Dallas. He loves this group. He mentors the other guy.” Head Coach Jason Kidd on why there is a debate that Doncic and Irving are the best backcourt in the league and why he thinks it works. Coach said that both are extremely good players but they know when to lean on each other in certain situations to get the job done.<br/><br/>Dallas will look to sweep the Timberwolves on Tuesday at home in American Airlines Center. Tip off is at 7:30.")
